A recently impending strike of the Port Authority workers has now become reality as of October 1. The stage is now set for a supply chain collapse that threatens global consequences signaling widespread food shortages and potential economic collapse.
I’ll share a video sent by a friend featuring an interview with the man i’ll refer to as the “architect of the strike” Harold Daggett, president of the International Longshoremen Association (ILA). I hope you will find it as informative as I did.
Some Key Points
What are your takeaways as you listened to Harold Daggett? He made, what could be considered a compelling case for a strike. Some things that stood out to me were:
His determination not to settle for less money than he believes port authoruty workers are entitled from the billions being made. Unfortunately, you and I are the ones who feel the greatest pain.
A clearly documented commitment not to replace workers with automation. At this point, all the signs strongly indicate a long strike. Each day setting back the American economy an estimated $5 billion. The global economy will be hit just as hard.
Further Observations
We are living in a rapidly changing world. A world that many of us believe is heralding a fast approaching end times scenario as referenced in the Bible.
Greed and power are dual driving forces and motivating factors behind many sins of mankind. The love of money is the root of all evil. —1 Timothy 6:10
Some of us tend to take our blessings of provisions for granted. For those of us who stand convicted, the good news is it’s never too late to change our perspective. Let us implore each other to develop a sense of gratitude for God’s provisions and remember that we are commanded to develop a thankful heart.
—1 Thessalonians 5:18
A Test of Faith
I believe what is about to occur could be a potential time of testing. Testing for those without faith, and for those who profess faith in God. We can now prepare ourselves for this test mentally, physically, and most of all with our faith in Jesus who is the source of our strength.
Mental preparation is fundamental to face various trials and tribulations in our lives. Being steadfast in what we believe helps us to stand firm when we are faced with trials. Our mental condition can mean the difference between success or failure. Eg: Consider two boxers equally matched. The one who is better prepared mentally will usually prevail.
Of the three, I consider physical preparation the lowest priority. When we are in good health it helps to soften the blow from the trials and tribulations and can complement mental and spiritual preparation.
Spiritual preparation when based on faith in an all knowing, omnipresent and omnipotent God is the only one of the three that can independently deliver victory. That victory is afforded through the supernatural intervention of Christ through the Holy Spirit who indwells and empower us. —1 Corinthians 15:57.
Our faith is tested every day, but may be tested at a greater level in the days to come.
Let us stand firm in our faith. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.—Philippians 2:4
